U.S. Trustee Program

In 2004, the U.S. Trustee Program began actively promoting financial literacy education for students and debtor education, although Director Lawrence A. Friedman has been a long-time advocate for such education. The CARE Program is committed to working closely with Director Friedman and everyone at the U.S. Trustee Program to advance the common goal of financial literacy education for students.

As of November 2004, Kathleen D. Schmitt, an Assistant U.S. Trustee in Rochester, New York, has been a member of the original CARE Program since its inception, Kay Hill, an Assistant U.S. Trustee from Anchorage, has taken the initiative in bringing the CARE Program to Alaska, and other Assistant U.S. Trustees are involved with other groups bringing the CARE Program to cities around the nation. CARE anticipates that many more individuals in the U.S. Trustee Program will be CARE Program participants in the future.

The CARE Program applauds the leadership, interest and support of everyone in the U.S. Trustee Program. On this link we will post information about the joint efforts of the CARE Program and the U.S. Trustee Program to advance the goal of improving the Financial I.Q. of students.

If you have an item that highlights the joint efforts of the CARE Program and the those in the U.S. Trustee Program, please e-mail it to careprogram@nywb.uscourts.gov.
