SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise)

There are SIFE Teams in more than forty countries and on approximately 800 college and university campuses in the United States (for more information about SIFE, go to www.sife.org).  One of SIFE’s five educational topics is to promote financial literacy, both on campus and in the college or university’s community, so that the CARE Program and SIFE Teams are a perfect fit.  On May 2, 2007, the SIFE Team at Keuka College in Western New York (Assistant Professor of Law & Finance, Dawn Grasso) hosted a very well-attended CARE presentation on campus.  CARE will be working with the Keuka College SIFE Team to build a model collaboration much like CARE’s GLAD Initiative, that can then be presented to other SIFE Teams across the nation,  It will invite them to sponsor CARE presentations on campus, and also work with local CARE Programs to help them make more local high school presentations.

On April 28, 2008, CARE made a presentation to all of the Seniors at Penn Yan Academy, a high school new to the CARE Program. The presentation was arranged by the Keuka College SIFE Team, members of which attended and participated in the presentation.

CARE is also working with the SIFE Team at Syracuse University in sponsoring a series of on-campus workshops (budgeting, credit scores, etc.)   With the participation of CARE, Syracuse University and Keuka College are working to have personal financial materials distributed to students at orientation.

SIFE-Sponsored presentations have also been made at:

San Diego City College
