The extensive media coverage that CARE has received (see the “CARE News Articles by Topic” section), the CARE Program articles appearing in Next Step Magazine, the web site and the support the Program has received from Dr. Robert D. Manning, the international expert on consumer credit and the author of Credit Card Nation and Give Yourself Credit, gives CARE a national identity and the credibility that others who want to bring CARE to their community can take advantage of when encouraging school administrators and teachers to bring CARE into their schools.

The experience of the CARE Program in Rochester is that, although school administrators and teachers embrace CARE’s message and its importance, with the current emphasis on meeting standards and the fact that schools are continually bombarded with requests to bring public service messages into their schools, it’s a real challenge to actually get into the schools. Being able to sit in a principal’s office, pull up the CARE web site and direct them to the Handouts, the many newspaper articles about the Program, the Next Step articles, videos and the many excellent PowerPoint presentations used by different Programs across the country makes bringing CARE to any school much easier.

The presentation materials on the CARE web site are designed for use in any community. On the other hand, being a part of CARE does not require a certain type of presentation, the use of any particular materials or anything other than a belief in its principles, lessons, tactics and techniques and a passion to get out into the community and make a difference for our young people with the unique knowledge and experience that you have gained from being a part of the Bankruptcy System.

As CARE is introduced in more communities around the nation, new ideas, products and materials will emerge that everyone in CARE can benefit from. For example, others might do a film or create a PowerPoint presentation or overheads to highlight different credit lessons which could be shared by everyone and placed on the web site.  As a result, it will become easier to expand CARE’s national identity and to get the kind of national publicity that will ensure that the CARE message is made available to more and more students.

  • Press Release from the New York State Department of Education. This is an excellent overview and strong endorsement of the CARE Program that will help you solicit educators and administrators for presentations
  • A one page Synopsis of the CARE Program that is also an excellent attachment to a solicitation letter to high school and college administrators, teachers and guidance counselors. This was prepared for the CARE Program by Jayne Siersdorfer of J Group Business and Communications Resources, LLC. in Columbus, Ohio. The schedule a presentation contact information at the end should be that for the local program, and other information or history for the local program can also be added.
